Privacy Policy Statement

[Dividing Line Image]

We are strong proponents of privacy on the Internet, as well as effective use of the Internet to provide you with the information you want. We want you to understand what information about you does (and does not) become available to us when you communicate with us over the Internet; what we do (and don't do) with this information; and how you can control what happens to the personal information we may collect.

This Privacy Policy Statement was prepared in accordance with guidelines from the Direct Marketing Association -- but we have gone further, seeking to explain exactly when and how information about you may be collected. If you have any questions about our policies, please contact us at:

Web Site Log Information

When your Web browser requests information from our site, our Web server automatically writes information to a standard log file which records the date, time, and IP address from which your request came. From this information, our Web log file analyzer can sometimes, but not always, determine the domain and host name of the network provider to which you are connected, such as America Online, MSN, Netcom, etc. or, if your company operates the network, the domain name of your company.

Web site log file information is generally insufficient to identify you individually, and we do not seek to do this. You are an "anonymous" user unless you choose to send us email, fill out an online form to request more information, or sign up for our Private Web for Solver Users. We use the aggregate information in our log files to determine usage and "popularity" of various parts of our Web site, so we can improve our site and make it more useful to you.

Identification Via "Cookies"

Some Web servers send commands to your Web browser to write a small file called a "cookie," containing an arbitrary but unique number, to your hard disk, or to read back the unique number in a cookie. This serves many useful purposes such as determining that several requests all came from a single "visitor," i.e. one Web browser. As just one example, any time you shop online, a cookie is needed to associate the items you order with your shipping address, payment information, etc., since all of these items may appear in separate page requests. Without cookies, Internet commerce and many other useful Web features would not be possible! However, at present our Web server does not read or write any cookies. If this should ever change, we will update this Web page to reflect our new policy.

Email Addresses

We may collect your email address when you (i) choose to send us an email message, (ii) choose to fill out one of our online forms to request information about our products and services, or (iii) choose to sign up for our Private Web for Solver Users. We use your email address to respond to your inquiry, and we may retain it to communicate with you in the future, to provide follow-up service.

We may occasionally send you an email message, as part of a "general emailing" to people who have contacted us, to announce a new product, ask for your feedback on some issue, invite you to participate in our beta testing program, and for similar purposes. In these emailings, we always tell you, at the beginning of the message, how to remove yourself from our email list, automatically via return email. At any other time, if you do not want to receive any further email from us, you can simply tell us by (i) sending email to the above address, (ii) calling or faxing us at the above numbers, or (iii) writing to us at the above address.

At present, we do not make your email address available to anyone outside our company.. However, in the future it's possible that we might decide to make available general lists of email addresses, to other reputable organizations whose products or services we believe our users would find interesting. If we ever do this, we will update this Web page to reflect our new policy. If you do not want us to share your email address with other companies or organizations, you can simply tell us by (i) sending email to the above address, (ii) calling or faxing us at the above numbers, or (iii) writing to us at the above address.

We NEVER send "SPAM," i.e. unsolicited email to users who haven't specifically given us their email address, or else "opted in" to some public email list which is designed to allow them to receive information of special interest.

If you supply us with your postal address, by ordering from us, requesting information on our products or services (via an online form or other means), or signing up for our Private Web for Solver Users, you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on new products and services or upcoming events.
